About Massey Automotive Mechanics

At Massey Automotive, we have been helping drivers in East Cobb since 1977. Our company was founded by Frederick Massey, who has always been passionate about cars and enjoys helping people. While he was studying at Georgia Tech, Fred started doing automotive repairs on the side to earn some extra money. In July 1977, he officially started the business and it has been growing ever since. We have moved to three different buildings over the years, each one larger than the last. Our current facility is state-of-the-art and located on Lower Roswell Road.

In January 2020, Rob and Glenda Elliott bought Massey Automotive from Frederick. The Elliotts’ goal is to continue the excellent service that built the business, while adding new capabilities and services. Ethan Cook and Al Rosenfield man the front desk and are always available to answer your questions, consult on repairs, and provide no-pressure service – we are service advisors.

We want to ensure you have the best possible experience at Massey Automotive, whether you need a major repair or just a tire pressure check. We’re here to help in any way we can, so don’t hesitate to ask any of us for assistance!

Glenda “51%” Elliott is usually locked in the bookkeeping office while at the shop, but occasionally comes out to drive a customer home or deliver a car. She fell head over heels for Rob when he replaced the alternator in her car, in Washington, DC, in the street, in the rain, while battling a cold. She’s allowed him every project car since. Her hobbies include wrangling their three rescue dogs (and any random fosters), worrying, and making sourdough bread.

In a former life, Glenda studied to be a paralegal at the College of Southern Maryland and worked in big law including stints at both Kelley, Drye, & Warren and the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC. She also worked for Starbucks and was the youngest store manager in her district (she’s a firecracker!).

Rob “49%” Elliott is the co-owner of Massey Automotive with his wife Glenda. Rob is an Atlanta native, grew up in the Perimeter Mall area, and went to Chamblee High School. Rob holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and a JD from The George Washington University Law School. Rob worked for over 12 years as a patent attorney, with a majority of his career spent at Troutman Sanders (now, Troutman, Pepper, Locke), one of Atlanta’s oldest and largest law firms.

Glenda and Rob bought the shop from the original owner, Fred Massey, in January 2020. Rob worked at Massey Automotive for over 10 years in a “previous life.” After returning to school late in life (his Dad used to say “He went on spring break and didn’t come back for 10 years.”), Rob continued to work at Massey Automotive part-time until he graduated from Georgia Tech.

Rob has been working on cars since he was six years old (i.e., “Hold the light UP so I can see!”) and has owned myriad cars and motorcycles. Rob has swapped an LS1 (Corvette V8 engine) into a 1984 Lotus Turbo Esprit and updated to full digital controls and displays (“How hard could it be? How long could it take?”). Rob learned his love of cars from his Dad, Randy Elliott, whose prize possession was a 1984 Ferrari 512BBi. Randy lived by the motto, “He who dies with the most toys wins!”

Ethan Cook started at Massey Automotive as an apprentice mechanic in 2018, but was quickly repurposed as a Service Advisor due to his ability to talk to anyone like he has known them for 10 years. Ethan has been turning wrenches since 2018 including rebuilding the engine in his C5 Corvette which he blew up almost immediately after purchase (“ASE Certified in spinning rod bearings”). Ethan subsequently upgraded to a C6 Corvette Grand Sport and also plays around with a 1989 Chevrolet S10. Ethan is a Marietta local and went to Walton High School. Ethan studied construction management at Kennesaw State, but decided that building cars was more fun than building houses. After going to the Porsche Experience here in Atlanta, he changed his dream car to a Porsche 911 GT3RS. Ethan’s favorite pastimes are fishing, grilling, and smoking (food, not cigarettes).

Al is also a skilled service advisor with over 20 years of experience. He initially worked at Massey Automotive from 2006-2018 took a hiatus, and then returned in 2023. Al is also a Corvette enthusiast and already drives his dream car, a C7 Corvette Grand Sport (it’s starting to become a pattern here). Al has been in the automotive industry since 1997 and has managed everything including large dealerships. Al is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, is a veteran, and started restoring cars when he was 15. Al’s first car was a 1964 Ford Mustang.

Jordon is originally from the Big Apple, so he’s not really as much of a car guy, but he has picked up the industry quickly. Jordon currently drives a Kia Sorento (but we’ll get him into a Corvette yet). His first car was a Dodge Neon, and his dream car is an Acura MDX. Jordon is interested in sports and music.

We stole Mike from one of our parts suppliers because he was head and shoulders above every other parts driver we dealt with. Mike is originally from Dallas and still visits there often. Mike has worked in several industries and has been in the automotive industry for 11 years. Mike is naturally curious and spends a lot of time watching technician training videos even though he’s not a technician! Mike drives a Honda Civic, but his dream car is a 1963 “split window” Corvette (BAM!). Mike’s first car was a Toyota Corona (when’s the last time you saw one of those) and his favorite hobby is fishing.

Tibor is originally from Hungary but has been in the US for decades (though he still has an outrageous accent ��). Tibor started out as a coal miner in the then communist Hungary (lots of great stories!) and has worked on everything from cars to dump trucks to mining equipment. Tibor and his wife immigrated to the US in the mid-80’s and owned their own shop in San Francisco for almost 35 years. Tibor moved to Atlanta to be near his son and grandchildren, but didn’t want the headache of owning his own shop again (ask Rob and Glenda about that ��) so he turns wrenches for us. Tibor’s daily driver is a 2014 Lexus RX350 and his first car was probably a Lada or something equally terrible and eastern bloc. Tibor’s dream car is a VW 23 Window Microbus. In his off time, his absolute favorite thing to do is spend time with his grandkids.

Trey has been a technician for 26 years and specializes in suspension work and alignments. Trey is originally from Powder Springs, GA and has lived in this area most of his life. Like most techs, Trey has a lot of cars including a 2018 VW Tiguan, a 1979 Ford F100, a 1994 Ford Ranger, a 2003 Toyota Tacoma, and his daily is a 2018 Subaru WRX. Treys original car was a 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (probably has Crager mags on it!) and his dream car is an Audi RS6 Avant (the “not a sleeper” station wagon). Trey’s favorite past time is bowling and has more bowling balls than any one person should have.

Shortly after coming to Massey Automotive, Cory bought a brand new Dodge Challenger (do we pay too much? ��). Cory’s first car was a 1986 Olds Cutlass and his dream car is a 1969 Olds Cutlass. Cory’s favorite pastime is watching all kinds of sports.

Najee is originally from Brooklyn, NY. Najee is Massey Automotive’s youngest tech but nonetheless has been working on cars for eight years. Najee’s daily driver is a 2006 Mercedes E350 (he’s fancy like that) and his first car was a 1999 Mercedes SLK320 (apparently, he’s always been fancy like that). His dream car is a 2011 Mercedes SL65 Black Series (we’ll need another lottery winner for that). Najee’s favorite pastime, among many, is skateboarding.

Phil is originally from Staten Island, NY, but unlike Tibor, he does not have an outrageous accent. Phil is a Mini and Volvo specialist (and everyone else is fine with that). His daily drivers include a 2020 Ford F-150 and a 2010 John Cooper Works (JCW) Mini Cooper Clubman. His first car was a 1972 VW Beetle Baja and his dream car is a 1959 Chevrolet Impala Biscayne Wagon (again, wagons rock!). Phil is yet another tech with 30+ years of experience and has specialized in Minis and Volvos for the past 15 years. Phil’s favorite pastime is baking, and all of our waistlines bear witness to his skill.

Omar has worked in a variety of shops, most recently repairing and preparing cars for sale at CarMax. Omar’s daily drivers include a 2017 Chevrolet Impala and a 2016 Buick LaCrosse (we have a lot of GM fans). His first car was a 1978 Chrysler Cordoba (oof!) and his dream car is a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice. Evenings and weekends, you’ll find Omar in the kitchen or at the grill cooking good food.

Pickle Elliott is the newest addition to the Elliott menagerie. He was adopted in March 2024 and was thought to be a beagle/lab mix like Green Bean. As you can probably tell as an adult, he is not a beagle/lab mix, he is a hound dog. As a result, he doesn’t really bark so much as “bork” and it is LOUD. He’s a goofball who’s fun and spends his days treeing squirrels in the Elliott’s back yard (as is his birthright).

Like his father, Jack Pitt started in the automotive industry as a Snap-On® tool distributor. After three years on the tool truck, Jack started with Massey in April of 2011.

Jack is also the father of the cutest five-year-old girl in the world. Jack’s hobbies include making Chevys go fast (but not blowing them up, Ethan!) and currently drives a supercharged C6 Corvette with about 700 HP that he built and tuned himself. Jack also likes to watch Chevys “go-fast-go-fast-turn-left-turn-left” on Sundays. When he’s not watching NASCAR, Jack is a big fan of Falcons football, heavy metal concerts (avoid him in the mosh pit, he’s bigger than you), and bourbon – not necessarily in that order.

Jesse Glover, a proud Marietta native, is living his dream of working at Marietta’s premier automotive establishment. Jesse earned a degree in Automotive Technology at North Georgia Technical College. He is an ASE certified mechanic with over 20 years of experience in the automotive field. Jesse works on all cars, but has particular expertise in classic car repair and restoration, having worked on classic cars for over 10 years at a local Marietta classic auto repair business. Jesse drives a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V coupe. Jesse is also working hard to reignite the custom van community and you may see him driving around Marietta in his black Chevy van, “Magic Carpet Ride”. But you probably thought he was a celebrity – he gets mistaken for stars all the time. Most recently he was mistaken for Jason Mamoa (“Aren’t you Aquaman?”) and Keanu Reeves. Who do you think he looks like?

Chris started at Massey Automotive in 2015 and has been in the automotive industry since he was eight years old – his family owned a shop in Marietta in the 80’s. Chris has over 26 years of experience in the automotive industry, including various Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealers, tire shops, independent shops, and fleet repair shops. Chris is married to an amazing Brazilian woman, has two beautiful daughters, and two crazy dogs (Rascal & Sophie). Chris also has a passion for Subarus and is proud to be a Subaru Ambassador! Chris drives a 2018 Subaru WRX STi. The STi replaced his 2004 Subaru WRX, which he bought new and drove for 18 years! Chris is also a huge Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves fan and enjoys playing men’s league softball.

Due to our growth, Troy is one to two new technicians at Massey Automotive in 2025. Troy is also an Atlanta native (we seem to have more than our share) and has been turning wrenches for 30+ years. Troy has worked in a variety of shops, including most recently a Goodyear store. Troy’s daily driver is a 2005 Buick Park Avenue, and his first car was a 1969 Chevy C10 pickup. Troy’s dream car is a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV Convertible, but he’s probably going to have to win the lottery for that one. When Troy is not working his favorite thing to do is spend time with his family.

Matthew is originally from Lawrenceville, GA, so I guess we can call him an Atlanta native too. Matthew currently drives a Cadillac XT4 (another fancy one), and his first car was a 1996 Ford Mustang (V6, not GT, ugh!). Matthew’s dream car is a 1967 Dodge Challenger, and his favorite pastimes are fishing and sports.
